FROM PASTOR LANG COLLINS

Thank you for a gracious “welcome” the day we bid Godspeed to Pr. Perkins.  I have appreciated your welcoming manner at worship, meetings, and home visits.  Keep Pr. Perkins in your daily prayers as we remember her study and travel each Sunday.

The wedding for Rachel Skoczylas and Ryan Tekac was beautiful and very uplifting.  Fr. Richard Murphy of St. Mary’s, Mineral Ridge, and President of Ursuline High School, brought an excellent message and personable style.  I sat with Terry and Brenda Ceplecci at the Synod Assembly in Akron.  Over 50,000 Lutherans in NE Ohio offer many ministries and a welcoming outreach to our neighbors.  It is good to be part of Jesus’ great church.

I will have part of Tuesday and Wednesday mornings in the office and afternoons for hospital calls and shut-in visits.  I will try to get to several of the summer social events as well.  If you like to bowl, come to the Bowling for Bears event Sunday, July 1.  See the article elsewhere in the newsletter.

Peace,
Pr. Lang Collins, retired

CELEBRATE GRAND-FAMILIES“Celebrate Grand-families” is a new support group for grandparents raising their grandchildren.  St. Paul is reaching out to support these families with Christian compassion and a place to meet and discuss their needs.  We are starting with the group with five families from the community, and more are welcome, if you know of anyone who would fit in.  While the women meet, we will have crafts, games, bible stories, snacks, help with homework, tutoring, and a fun social time for children.  Church members are needed to help with the children.  Sessions in July will be on Saturdays, July 14 and 28, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm.  Please contact Brenda Ceplecci or Pastor Collins to help.
