As I write this, my head is spinning with the events, participation, and excitement of September. Countless hours have gone into the planning, preparation, and execution of numerous youth activities thus far by myself, Pastor Ann, and several members of the congregation.  Our passion to grow our church and the children’s programs are starting to come to volition and it is very exciting!  In the first few weeks of September alone, we have had a field trip to Wildare Church in Cortland to participate in one of their youth gatherings, welcomed ten children from the community on Rally Day, and had twelve children participate in our first Youth Group meeting on September 15.  Not only did we have children from our own congregation participate in our Youth Group gathering, but also children from Living Lord, Prince of Peace, and the community.  I truly believe that all our efforts are paving the way for a larger, sustainable youth presence within our church for many years to come.

Now, looking towards October, we will continue to build our foundation and fine-tune the programs launched in September. While the Youth Group will gather on alternating Sundays for ages 12-18, and Sunday School is geared towards our 4-year-old through 6th grade group, we have not forgotten about our littlest ones!  With the help of Andrea Hall, “Godly Play” will be introduced into the nursery.  Andrea will be instructing our Teachers and Assistants on this hands-on teaching method.

This fall we will also be hosting a “Trunk-or-Treat” event in the church parking lot on Sunday, October 20, from 2:00 to 3:30 pm.  This fun community event for the children will feature the trunks of vehicles decorated in various themes!  Please sign-up in the narthex if you would like to decorate your vehicle and bring candy for the children.  This wonderful community outreach program will provide a safe environment for the children to trick-or-treat in, wear their costumes, play games, enjoy snacks, and drink hot apple cider!  All ages are welcome to participate and are encouraged to dress-up and have some fun!  Please contact Stacey Altiere with any questions or concerns.
