YOUTH NEWS FROM STACEY ALTIERE

With the first month of the new year already under our belts, the youth continue to surprise and inspire.  During a children’s sermon on January 12, our little ones were so loving and thoughtful about “Sharing the warmth of God’s love” with a blanket we had given them.  You could truly see them scanning the congregation for that special someone to pass the blanket to and keep them warm during the sermon.  Then later that same afternoon, one of our teens asked if they could try to collect blankets at their high school because she felt “they don’t do enough for others”.  These little moments are the ones we live for and reassure us that we are helping the children go down the right path with God.

Animal Welfare League:  On Saturday, February 22, the Youth Group will be rolling up their sleeves and volunteering at the Animal Welfare League in Vienna from 12:00 to 2:00 pm.  All Emergency Contact Forms must be turned in by this date to participate.  Please contact Stacey Altiere if you have a child age 12-18 that would like to participate or if you need an Emergency Contact Form.

Ash Wednesday:  The Ash Wednesday Worship Service on February 26 will once again be led by the youth.  All youth age 9-18 are encouraged to participate.  There will be a short rehearsal on February 26 at 5:30 pm followed by a potluck dinner in Cassel Hall.  The worship service begins at 7:00 pm.  Please contact Stacey Altiere to confirm your child’s participation if you have not done so already.

Servant Week:  Our “Servant Week Sampler” dates have been set!  Please mark your calendars for the week of June 22-26.  All youth age 12-18 are invited to participate in Servant Week.  In lieu of going away to Camp Frederick this year, we will be volunteering at a local event at places such as Habitat for Humanity, Veterans Haven, and Meals on Wheels.  We will also be doing some work at the church!  Youth are to report to St. Paul at 8:00 am daily.  Pick-up times may vary between 3:00 and 4:00 pm depending on the activity.  More information will be available as summer approaches and all activities are confirmed.  Please contact Stacey Altiere for further information.
