THANK YOU: A huge thank you to St. Paul’s for the donations for our project “Bob’s Bibles”. We have collected $553.00 towards the Bibles. We have emailed Bob and sent the money through the ELCA. God bless, Youth and Education
THANK YOU: Blessings! Thank you ALL so much for helping me get the Good News out to the indigenous people here in Panama. Pastor Ann Marie Winters had informed me about the project and I also heard her mention it last week on the church service video. I have given out many Bibles over the (almost) 10 years here. We had our first “unofficial” church service in the unfinished new church. I say “unofficial” because the COVID rules are for only 15 persons in a church service right now. When I started up the generator to run the equipment, 35 people came. I have had as many as 110 people worshipping with me when I only had the blue tarp over us. Thirty-five doesn’t seem like much, but the biggest Catholic church in San Felix only gets 10-13 during this time of COVID. I can’t wait until we can open the doors to all that want to come. The hunger for the Word in this area is strong. Again, thank you for your diligence in collecting funds for Bibles. I pray that you find a pastor to replace Ann Marie soon. Joyfully Serving Him, Bobby Moyer
SUPPLY PASTOR: Our guest Pastor for the month of November will be Reverend Bernie Dougherty. He is a retired minister from Stow. We look forward to having Pastor Bernie lead us in worship.
ALL SAINTS BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE: Each year at All Saints, we remember those members of our congregation who have died over the past year. We have also made it a practice to inscribe their names in a Book of Remembrance. Our Book of Remembrance is fashioned after the words of the prophet Malachi (chapter 3, verse 16): “Then those who revered the Lord spoke with one another. The Lord took note and listened, and a Book of Remembrance was written before Him of those who revered the Lord and thought on His name.” Before worship begins, all worshippers are invited to write in our book the names of family members, friends, neighbors, and loved ones who have passed since All Saints Day last year, from November 3, 2019, to November 1, 2020. Our Book of Remembrance will be made available at worship each Sunday from November 1 through 18, 2020, on a table before the altar. Each Sunday, names written that week will be read.
CELEBRATE GRAND-FAMILIES: “Celebrate Grand-families” is a support group for grandparents raising their grandchildren. St. Paul is reaching out to support these families with Christian compassion and a place to meet and discuss their needs. We now have 18 families who participate, and more are welcome, if you know of anyone who would fit in. While the grandparents meet, we will have crafts, games, bible stories, snacks, help with homework, tutoring, and a fun social time for children. Sessions in October will be on Saturdays, November 14 and 28, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Please contact Liz Chapin to help.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD: It’s time again for our annual Operation Christmas Child project. Due to the pandemic, we will be doing things a little differently this year – we are only accepting filled shoe boxes or monetary donations. No individual items please! If shopping for gifts is not practical for you right now, you may want to build a shoe box online at samaritanspurse.org/occ. Empty shoe boxes are available and I ask that you return them by November 15. See Deborah Bartlett (330-856-3538) with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your wondrous support of this very special project and God bless.
COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING SERVICE: St. Paul will be hosting the Community Thanksgiving Service, along with Central Christian Church and St. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, on Tuesday, November 24, at 7:30 pm. Please make this Interfaith Community Thanksgiving Service a part of your Thanksgiving week festivities.
WORK DAY: On Saturday, November 28, there will be a Work Day at the church. The purpose of this work day will be to clean and decorate the sanctuary for Advent and install a garbage disposal in the kitchen. We will start at 9:00 am and hope to be done around noon. I would like to thank Brenda and Bill Hart, Bonnie Thompson, Judy Dodge, Amy Martin, Jim Kuzman, Ron Wireman, and Marty Maurice for their help in cleaning windows in October. Thank you for your support. Tim Martin
CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS: Poinsettias will decorate the Chancel for the celebration of Christmas. The cost of each poinsettia is $13.00. Please return your order no later than December 6 along with a check made payable to St. Paul Lutheran Church with “Poinsettia” in the memo portion. Please return the order form to the church office.
FALL FOOD OUTREACH: St. Paul Church is reaching out to old and new friends with a fresh meal and food care packages that will be delivered once a month. For November and December, we are asking for donations of the following items: cereal, soup and crackers, canned meats, canned fruits, boxed potatoes and stuffing, gravy, canned sweet potatoes, corn, green beans, and cookies. Monetary donations can be made to the church with FOOD OUTREACH on the memo line. For more information, please contact Bonnie Thompson, Debbie Illencik, or Grace Shiau.
SPLASH TODAY: Splash Ministry is a monthly resource which is mailed to parents of children from ages newborn to 3 years. This resource helps young children to grow in their faith formation and provides fun and easy ideas for bringing faith into the everyday life of infants, toddlers, and their families. It also connects the church to families for support and encouragement. If you have further questions about the Splash Ministry, please see Bonnie Thompson or Brenda Ceplecci. Donations for Splash are always warmly welcomed and greatly appreciated.
GRIEF MINISTRY: Part of the Social Committee is Grief Ministry. Joyce Osborn is spearheading this ministry with God’s guidance and help. When a loved one dies, Joyce sends a set of four books called “Journeying through Grief” throughout the first year. Each book describes the issues and feelings that a person tends to encounter at various points of grief and the books offer suggestions on handling them. If Joyce can be of any help or if you have any questions during a time of grief, please contact her.
HALL RENTAL: Anyone wishing to rent Cassel Hall must first call the office to schedule the date to be sure it is not already rented or in use by the church, the Preschool, DAR, or the Red Cross. There is also paper work which needs to be filled out prior to renting.
FLOWERS AND MEDITATION CANDLES: Weeks are available for purchase, dedicated to your special intentions. The meditation candle is $5.00 and flowers are $30.00 for two vases. Please use an Order Envelope and PREPAY your order at the time that you sign the flower and candle chart. PAYMENT ENVELOPES ARE BY THE FLOWER CHART. On weeks where there is no paid order, the church will display silk flowers to the Glory of God. Please sign up for your special weeks while they are available.
DUE TO GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS: In the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), churches and clergy can no longer make written or oral public announcements of health information regarding our members. Thus, unless specifically requested by a member to share other information, we are only able to indicate where a person is hospitalized or that they have been discharged.
