YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE:  HELP OUR AFGHAN SIBLINGS:  Over the next six months, an estimated 800 Afghan refugees will be making their way to call northeast Ohio their home.  That is in addition to immigrants from other countries.  From what I understand, that is a lot for this area!  Our new friends will require many things.  Right now, we are focusing on cash donations and their immediate needs, which include food, housing, and companionship, among others.  To help with cash donations, please visit the NEOS ELCA Tithe.ly site.  The NEOS ELCA will match $0.50 for every dollar, up to $7,500.  They are currently partnering with Catholic Charities and Refugee Response.  To help with immediate needs, please visit the NEOS ELCA Refugee Response Portal.  Thank you for your kindness and generosity.    Bishop Laura Barbins (Pr. Z)

CELEBRATE GRAND-FAMILIES:  “Celebrate Grand-families” is a support group for grandparents raising their grandchildren.  St. Paul is reaching out to support these families with Christian compassion and a place to meet and discuss their needs.  While the grandparents meet, we will have crafts, games, bible stories, snacks, help with homework, tutoring, and a fun social time for children.  Sessions in November will be on Saturday, November 13 and 27, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm.  Please contact Liz to help.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD:  It’s time again for our annual Operation Christmas Child project.  Due to the cold and flu season and the continued pandemic, we will again only be accepting filled shoe boxes or monetary donations.  No individual items please!  If shopping for gifts is not practical for you, you may want to build a shoe box online at samaritanspurse.org/occ.  Empty shoe boxes are available and I ask that you return them by Sunday, November 14.  See Deborah Bartlett with any questions or concerns.  Thank you for your wondrous support of this very special project and God Bless.    Deborah Bartlett

FOOD OUTREACH:  Looking to the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons, foods that make the celebration a little more festive will be included in the boxes for distribution on November 19 and December 17.  The following suggested items are always appreciated:  stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, canned yams, canned vegetables, boxed potatoes.  We will be shopping for turkey or ham.  We delivered boxes of shelf-stable foods to several families in need on October 22.  Marty made at home communion available for members at that time.  We are thankful for the response from you.  Our hope is to maintain the servant project, once a month, through the year, recognizing an essential need in the community and to keep communication with some of our members, too.  Monetary donations can be made to the church with FOOD OUTREACH on the memo line.  Questions or suggestions, please contact Bonnie, Debbie, or Grace.

RED CROSS BLOOD DRAW:  The Red Cross will be taking blood donations at St. Paul on Saturday, November 20.  Volunteers are needed to register donors and to help at the Canteen Table.  This is an easy way to greet the community in a friendly environment.  See the sign-up sheet in the narthex for times.  If you have any questions, please contact Bonnie.

CONGREGATIONAL REQUESTS:  With not having someone in the office fulltime and not having a fulltime permanent pastor, the Council is concerned that we might have overlooked someone who needs us.  For example, someone goes into the hospital or wants a nursing home or home visit, wants home communion, needs transportation to church or a doctor’s appointment, etc.  Lorri has agreed to coordinate all of these requests. She will then find someone to help you with your needs.  Next, VOLUNTEERS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!  Lorri will be placing a form in the bulletin that you can use to sign up for what you would be willing to help with.  With God’s blessing, we can all help one another!  Thank you!  Lorri

HOME COMMUNION:  Home communion packages will be available in the church office Monday through Friday 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.  The bread and wine were blessed during Sunday service.  Please call Lynn at 330-394-5741 to make arrangements for pickup.  Marty is available for home delivery and is also able to serve communion if requested.
