THANK YOU:  We had another successful Strawberry Social this year!  This would not have been possible without all of you.  A big thank you to everyone who helped in any way—donating money or food, helping to prepare strawberries, or helping on the event day.  Thanks also to the Thrivent Action Team for sponsoring us.  We made a profit of $1,120.00 to add to the church’s general fund.  St. Paul workers are the best!  Thanks again, Diana and Lorri

AN UPDATE FROM THE CALL COMMITTEEThe Call Committee has sent out a member assessment questionnaire from HOLY COW, our partner in the search for our new pastor.  It is very important that these be returned with your answers to the church office by July 9.  These questionnaires and your answers will be used to help us understand what YOU want or are looking for in a pastor to lead us and direct our ministry at St. Paul for the next ten or twenty years as we grow and spread the Gospel in the Warren community.  The Call Committee is ready to assist you and answer any questions with this survey.  It is very important that ALL of the members of St. Paul have their voices and thoughts heard.  So please be involved.  We need YOU.  With God and your help, this can be done.  Thanks for your help,

Rick, Call Committee Chairperson

BLOOD DRIVE:  Red Cross is welcoming back volunteers at St. Paul beginning with the Saturday, July 10, blood drawing.  Vaccinated volunteers will register donors (no experience needed), serve snacks, and have a chance to visit with everyone.  If you are interested in helping the community and welcoming others to the church facility, add your name to the sign-up sheet in the hall.  The next opportunity to volunteer for Red Cross will be in September.  Times and dates will be listed on the sign-up sheet.  If you have any questions, please call Bonnie.

CELEBRATE GRAND-FAMILIES“Celebrate Grand-families” is a support group for grandparents raising their grandchildren.  St. Paul is reaching out to support these families with Christian compassion and a place to meet and discuss their needs.  While the grandparents meet, we will have crafts, games, bible stories, snacks, help with homework, tutoring, and a fun social time for children.  Sessions in July will be on Saturday, July 10 and 24, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm.  Please contact Liz to help.

FOOD OUTREACH:  Delivery of 20 hot meals continued June 18.  We delivered boxes of shelf-stable foods to several families in need.  Marty made at-home communion available for members at that time.  We are thankful for the response from you.  Our hope is to maintain the servant project, once a month, through the year, recognizing an essential need in the community and to keep communication with some of our members, too.  The following suggested items are always appreciated:  cereal, peanut butter, jelly, canned veggies, soup, pasta and sauce, and canned meats such as tuna, salmon, turkey, and chicken.  Delivery for July will be on July 23.  Monetary donations can be made to the church with FOOD OUTREACH on the memo line.  Questions or suggestions, please contact Bonnie, Debbie, or Grace.

RUMMAGE SALE UPDATE:  Plans are underway to hold a Rummage Sale on Saturday, August 7, with the proceeds to go toward the church’s general fund.  Many members have been spring cleaning and setting aside unwanted items – clothing, shoes, toys, books, linens, household goods, small furniture, and other miscellaneous items.  You may start to bring these items to the church AFTER JULY 1 between 11:30 am and 2:30 pm Monday through Friday or on Sunday mornings.  These items should be taken to the choir room.  If you have any questions or need help bringing items to the church, please contact Bonnie or Brenda.

Vacation Bible School

July 19 – July 23, 5:30 – 7:00 pm

Vacation Bible School this year for our little ones age 5-10 will be held at the Trumbull Art Gallery in Warren July 19 to 23 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.  Families with children age 3-4 please see me for further instructions (they are welcome to participate).  The artists at the gallery have graciously agreed to lead our little ones in their art projects, however we will need volunteers to spend time with us and help keep an eye on our little ones.  A sign-up sheet will be located in the narthex.  See Stacey Altiere for further details.  The children’s art will then be displayed at the gallery for the congregation to enjoy on Friday, July 23, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.

Night at the Gallery

Trumbull Art Gallery (on Courthouse Square)

158 N. Park Ave., Warren, OH  44481

July 23, 6:00 – 7:00 pm

The congregation is invited to attend our “Night at the Gallery” on Friday, July 23.  All artwork created by our children during their Vacation Bible School at the Trumbull Art Gallery will be on display for our church family to view.  Please plan on attending this special night for the children.  Additional parking will be available behind the gallery for those of us that prefer not to parallel park on the square.

Community Garden

I am happy to report that our Community Garden Project on Willard Avenue has successfully begun thanks to our volunteers of all ages.  While we still have lots more work to do to bring our vision to life, we are well on our way.  Beds have been tended to, vegetables are in the ground, and even some landscaping has been done.  We want to make this a sight to see for the community and Willard School as well as put a little something in peoples’ bellies!  This endeavor also requires help from the congregation.  Please see Debbie Groves or Stacey Altiere if you would like to help tend to the garden this summer.

Sunday School Teachers Needed

Fall 2021

With restrictions lifting and a sense of normalcy returning, please consider teaching a Sunday School Class!  Listening to the children and how they interpret the lessons is truly fulfilling.  We must continue to grow our youth and deepen their faith.  We must continue to support these young families and I know we have some extraordinary teachers in our congregation!  Please contact Stacey Altiere if you would like to participate in the fall when Sunday School resumes.  Men and women of faith, we need your knowledge!
