THANK YOU: Brenda and I would like to thank everyone who made the Rummage Sale a success. Thirty members and friends of St. Paul dedicated time and hard work to plan and organize the sale. Thank you as well to those of you who donated items, baked, and helped collect treasures for the sale. We are happy to report Thrivent Financial was a sponsor, so with that funding. The remaining clothing and linens were delivered to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Clothes Closet. Children’s shoes will be sent to the school. Thank you again, Bonnie
THANK YOU: Thanks to everyone who stayed for our meeting and lunch following worship on August 15 to discuss the results of the Holy Cow Survey. If you were unable to attend and have any questions, please see any member of the Call Committee. Jim
CELEBRATE GRAND-FAMILIES: “Celebrate Grand-families” is a support group for grandparents raising their grandchildren. St. Paul is reaching out to support these families with Christian compassion and a place to meet and discuss their needs. While the grandparents meet, we will have crafts, games, bible stories, snacks, help with homework, tutoring, and a fun social time for children. Sessions in August will be on Saturday, August 14 and 28, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Please contact Liz to help.
FOOD OUTREACH: The following suggested items are always appreciated: cereal, cookies, canned vegetables, soup, canned meats (tuna, salmon, turkey, chicken). Delivery of hot meals continued on August 20. We will deliver boxes of shelf-stable foods to several families in need. Marty will make at home communion available for members at that time. We are thankful for the response from you. Our hope is to maintain the servant project, once a month, through the year, recognizing an essential need in the community and to keep communication with some of our members, too. The next delivery will be September 17. Monetary donations can be made to the church with FOOD OUTREACH on the memo line. Questions or suggestions, please contact Bonnie, Debbie, or Grace.
BABY & CHILDREN’S RUMMAGE SALE: There will be a Rummage Sale for Baby and Children’s Items ONLY in Cassel Hall on Saturday, October 9, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Tables are available to rent for $15.00 each and set-up begins at 8:00 am. Items for sale may include clothing (baby and children’s sizes), toys, and other equipment that is no longer needed – NO CAR SEATS, please. Contact Bonnie or Brenda if you are interested in renting a table. Please spread the word among your family, neighbors, and friends.
CONGREGATIONAL REQUESTS: With not having someone in the office fulltime and not having a fulltime permanent pastor, the Council is concerned that we might have overlooked someone who needs us. For example, someone goes into the hospital or wants a nursing home or home visit, wants home communion, needs transportation to church or a doctor’s appointment, etc. Lorri has agreed to coordinate all of these requests. You can call her at any time at 330-883-4157. She will then find someone to help you with your needs. Next, VOLUNTEERS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! Lorri will be placing a form in the bulletin that you can use to sign up for what you would be willing to help with. With God’s blessing, we can all help one another! Thank you! Lorri
HOME COMMUNION: Home communion packages will be available in the church office Monday through Friday 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. The bread and wine were blessed during Sunday service. Please call Lynn at 330-394-5741 to make arrangements for pickup. Marty is available for home delivery and is also able to serve communion if requested.
