ST. PAUL NEWS & EVENTS
THANK YOU: Dear St. Paul, We would like to thank all of you for your continued prayers, cards, and texts during this trying time. We cannot express how all of you have touched our lives. With all of you and God guiding our path, Kara is getting stronger and is cancer free! Thank you all so very much! Love & God Bless, Jerry and Debbie, Kara, Jake, Jordan, and Tyler
FOOD OUTREACH: The following suggested items are always appreciated: cereal, cookies, canned vegetables, soup, canned meats (tuna, salmon, turkey, chicken). Delivery of hot meals continued on September 17. We will deliver boxes of shelf-stable foods to several families in need. Marty will make at home communion available for members at that time. We are thankful for the response from you. Our hope is to maintain the servant project, once a month, through the year, recognizing an essential need in the community and to keep communication with some of our members, too. Monetary donations can be made to the church with FOOD OUTREACH on the memo line. Questions or suggestions, please contact Bonnie, Debbie, or Grace.
RED CROSS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Red Cross will be taking blood donations at St. Paul on Saturday, September 25. Volunteers are needed to register donors and to help at the Canteen table. See the sign-up sheet in the narthex for times. Thank you, Bonnie
CELEBRATE GRAND-FAMILIES: “Celebrate Grand-families” is a support group for grandparents raising their grandchildren. St. Paul is reaching out to support these families with Christian compassion and a place to meet and discuss their needs. While the grandparents meet, we will have crafts, games, bible stories, snacks, help with homework, tutoring, and a fun social time for children. Sessions in September will be on Saturday, September 25, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Please contact Liz to help.
BABY & CHILDREN’S RUMMAGE SALE: There will be a Rummage Sale for Baby and Children’s Items ONLY in Cassel Hall on Saturday, October 9, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Tables are available to rent for $15.00 each and set-up begins at 8:00 am. Items for sale may include clothing (baby and children’s sizes), toys, and other equipment that is no longer needed – NO CAR SEATS, please. Contact Bonnie or Brenda if you are interested in renting a table. Please spread the word among your family, neighbors, and friends.
FALL BASKET RAFFLE: It is time once again to assemble our baskets to be raffled off at the Oktoberfest on October 23. Tickets will be sold after church on Sunday, October 17. This has become a great fundraiser for our church. Our themes this year will be: Wine Basket, Family Fun Basket, Fall Décor Basket, Christmas Basket, Ladies’ Boutique Basket, and Coffee Basket. If you have any items that might fit in with these themes, please see Kay or Brenda. There are also sign-up sheets in the narthex with suggestions of items to donate, and cash donations are welcome if you do not wish to shop. As always, your help is greatly appreciated! Brenda
CONGREGATIONAL REQUESTS: With not having someone in the office fulltime and not having a fulltime permanent pastor, the Council is concerned that we might have overlooked someone who needs us. For example, someone goes into the hospital or wants a nursing home or home visit, wants home communion, needs transportation to church or a doctor’s appointment, etc. Lorri has agreed to coordinate all of these requests. She will then find someone to help you with your needs. Next, VOLUNTEERS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! Lorri will be placing a form in the bulletin that you can use to sign up for what you would be willing to help with. With God’s blessing, we can all help one another! Thank you! Lorri
HOME COMMUNION: Home communion packages will be available in the church office Monday through Friday 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. The bread and wine were blessed during Sunday service. Please call Lynn at 330-394-5741 to make arrangements for pickup. Marty is available for home delivery and is also able to serve communion if requested.
